Man arrested Friday for residential burglary
A Porterville man who was out of jail on bail was arrested Friday morning for attempting to burglarize a home near Mission Bell Community Homes on Morton Avenue.
On Friday at about 7:14 a.m., PPD officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of west Morton Avenue regarding an audible burglar alarm.
When the officers arrived they located a male subject, later identified as Adrian Valadez, 21, from Porterville, in the backyard of the residence and detained him without incident.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had entered the residence just prior to the officer’s arrival and attempted to flee when the alarm sounded.
Valadez was arrested and later booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department, where he is being held in lieu of $65,000 bail. On Saturday at about 1:08 p.m., officers of the Porterville Police Department attempted to stop an off road four wheel vehicle for traffic violations in the 2100 block of West Della Avenue. The driver, Jose Pena, 18, from Porterville, evaded officers by driving recklessly from the area, utilizing surface streets until reaching the Tule River near Olive Avenue, where he was able to elude officers.
Officers located Pena a short time later walking in the area where he was arrested without incident.
The off road vehicle he was riding was located abandoned a short distance away and seized. Pena was later booked into the Tulare County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
