PC basketball player faces multiple felony charges
Suspected of sexual assault in Visalia over the weekend
Basketball player Andres Solis of Porterville College (PC) was arrested Monday in Visalia, and now faces multiple felony charges.
On Nov. 18 at approximately 5:15 p.m., officers from the Visalia Police Department headquarters were dispatched to a sexual assault report.
Upon arrival, the victim, whose name has not been released, advised the officers that she had been sexually assaulted by Andres Solis earlier in the day at a residence on the 2900 block of W. Tyler Avenue.
Detectives from the violent crimes unit took over the investigation and eventually took Solis into custody without incident on Monday.
Solis was booked into the Tulare County Pretrial Facility and is facing five felony charges, including assault causing great bodily injury and kidnapping.
Solis is being held at the Bob Wiley detention facility. His bond is set at $1.7 million.
Solis had played in four games this season for PC, but he is no longer listed as part of the squad on their website and the team photo of this year’s team has also been removed.
With the investigation still underway, PC is unable to provide a comment at this time, but did say that as they receive more information, they “will continue to do what is necessary to ensure safety on campus.”
Solis is scheduled for a court hearing today in Visalia.
