SATURDAY The Friends of the Library will hold book sales on the first Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. behind the gas company building at 301 N. Hockett St. in Porterville. The sales feature classics, fiction, non-fiction, travel, humor, history, Western, reference, mystery, large-print, cook, travel and text books. Computer manuals, DVDS, music, old records and videos will also be sold. All proceeds benefit the Porterville City Library and the Porterville Library Literacy Program.

clothing Closet. The First United Methodist Church will be holding their clothing closet on Dec. 1 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The church will also be accepting donations during this time.

annual Springville Historical Muesem Old Fashioned Chrismas. Come learn how to spin and weave, watch real blacksmiths at work, enter the encampment of the Buffalo Soldiers and learn their history. The Back-country cookers will be here cooking up their famous recipes, and Kady will be churning butter to go with her homemade biscuits. We have live music from Rosemary on the piano in the Murphy House and the Kings fiddlers will be joining us this year to bring you Christmas cheer. Raffle, refreshments and good old-fashioned fun. The fun begins at 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Springville muesem. This is a free event that is sponsored by the Tule River Society.

The Porterville Historical Museum, is located at 257 N. D Street. As of September 1st the Museum’s Winter hours are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 10 am - 4 pm.
