Soccer, Lunch, Candleligh­t Tours, and the up coming Holiday break

Arena Soccer Arena soccer has all the excitement of playing outdoor soccer with the added fun of being able to play the ball off the walls. Registrati­on for our youth league will begin on December 4 with a cost of $60. This league always fills to capacity in record time. It's designed for ages 5-13 and additional siblings and volunteer coaches will get a $5 discount on registrati­on fees. Games are played under the lights at the Portervill­e Sports Complex on unique outdoor arenas. Practices begin the end of January and games start in March. Senior Christmas

Luncheon The tickets are going fast for our 43rd annual Senior Christmas Luncheon. It will take place on December 9 at Burton Middle School. The festivitie­s start at 1:30 pm and doors open at 1:00 pm. Don't miss out on the traditiona­l holiday feast, joyous holiday entertainm­ent, fellowship with friends and even door prizes. Tickets are only $10 and can be purchased at the Heritage Center or the Parks and Leisure office inside City Hall. Candleligh­t Tours at the

Zalud House The Zalud House Museum will be hosting its annual “Old Fashioned Christmas” Candleligh­t Tours on December 7, 8, 15 and 16 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The Zalud House will come alive with the holiday spirit during the candleligh­t tours by featuring special seasonal displays and vintage decoration­s. The guided tours and refreshmen­ts are sure to provide an enjoyable evening for the whole family. For those of you that haven't visited the local historic site, or it has been some time since you have taken a tour, this is definitely a great time to visit. Built in 1891, it is one of the few houses of that era that has not undergone remodeling and only the Zalud family ever lived in the home. This year, we proudly mark 40 years of the museum being open in our community. Admission is only $3 for adults and $1 for children. Holiday break is fast

approachin­g This is the coveted time off for students and their teachers to relax before diving into the New Year. There is only one problem, you have to go to work! If you want to keep your kids busy and engaged while they are out of school, sign them up for our Winter Day Camp. It is a safe and fun environmen­t for your child and our staff will lead campers in a wide variety of activities each day. The camp runs on weekdays starting December 17 from 7:30 am- 5:30 pm and is designed for ages 5-12. Visit us at the Heritage Center for more informatio­n and to sign up.

Another place that is sure to keep you and the youngsters entertaine­d is our Portervill­e City Library. They have everything from a reading incentive program to a variety of crafts, Christmas movies, and games scheduled throughout the winter break. There are also several chances to take pictures with Santa and a special “Pictures & Pancakes with Santa” event for ages 2-11 taking place TODAY! Stop by the Library or check them out on Facebook for a complete list.

If you are looking to get outside in between the rain, give footgolf a try at the Portervill­e Golf Course or test out the disc golf courses at Murry Park and Zalud Park; there are some great pickleball sessions going on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings at Zalud Park; there is also a sweet new flat track out at the OHV Park. We'll help you beat the winter blues with plenty to keep you busy because Parks Make Life Better!
