Porterville 10u fall in district title game
The 10u Porterville All-stars saw their season come to an end Thursday after losing 12-2 to Visalia in the second game of the Little League California District 34 Championship game at Divisadero Middle School in Visalia. The game was called after four innings.
The game slipped away from Porterville in the second inning when Visalia scored four runs on three back-to-back RBIS, including a tworun Rbi-double from Carson Garcia.
In the top of the third, Porterville got one of the runs back after Emilio Carabay scored on an Rbi-double from Tyson Harrington. Harrington was able to reach third after Brandon Correa’s hit went to the outfield, but a pop-up on the next at-bat ended what had been a two-out rally.
Up 5-1 entering the bottom of the third, Visalia stretched their lead to 10-1 while Porterville’s bats struggled.
Rolando Quiñones drew the team’s only walk in the top of the fourth and then scored from first base on a single by Dominic Narvaiz.
Porterville finished with just three hits and one walk. Harrington, Narvaiz and Ryan Hernandez were the team’s lone hitters.
In the bottom of the fourth Visalia sealed their win by scoring two runs after loading the bases.
The championship game was Porterville’s sixth game in eight days and their third against Visalia.
Starting last Thursday, Porterville beat Corcoran 12-2, lost 12-2 to Visalia, beat Corcoran again 18-1, defeated Lemoore 13-3 then beat Visalia 9-4 on Wednes
day to force a second game for the championship.
