(S.M.A.R.T.) Lab Summer Camp set
There are spots available for the August S.M.A.R.T. Lab Summer Camp at Porterville College from Monday, August 5, through Thursday, August 8.
The two S.M.A.R.T. Lab Summer Camps at Porterville College are currently full, starting on Monday, July 8, through Thursday, July 11, 2019 , and Monday, July 22 through Thursday, July 25 from 8 a.m. to noon.
The camp is four fourth - sixth grade students to explore life, earth and physical science through a variety of experiments and projects. Students can expect to use compound and dissecting microscopes, perform dissections, build race cars and learn about current and static electricity, chemical reactions, rockets and magnets.
The cost is $25, which includes a mid-morning snack, materials, a Tshirt, workbook and a textbook of the student’s choice. The camp Is supported by Edison International.
“We are incredibly proud of the SMART Lab and the tremendous work Denise Goodman, SMART Lab Director has invested into the program. On an annual basis, the SMART Lab serves between 10,000 to 11,000 students throughout Tulare County,” said Ramona C. Chiapa, MCM, Executive Director, Porterville College Foundation, “The summer camps allow us to continue to engage students in the pursuit of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) while introducing them to the Porterville College campus. We hope that the camps inspire continued learning and future Pirates to join the Porterville College family as they pursue their education.”
