Connecting to nature through service

-

Your day to make a difference for Lake Success and those who visit is coming up soon.

On September 28, join hundreds of thousands of people at sites throughout the country, and take part in the National Environmental Education Foundation’s (NEEF) annual National Public Lands Day (NPLD), sponsored by national corporate sponsor Toyota. NPLD is the nation’s largest, singleday volunteer effort for public lands.

NEEF uses the day to connect people to public lands and their communities, inspire environmentalist stewardship, and encourage the use of public lands for education, recreation and general health.

Lend a hand and have fun at the same time by bringing family, friends, classmates, students or coworkers of all ages and abilities to spend the day outdoors celebrating public lands. Volunteers’ work will help to ensure public lands continue to be beautiful places for all to enjoy.

Volunteers will be provided with a free lunch, opportunities to win doors prizes, a NPLD tshirt, NPLD sunglasses and NPLD water bottles (while supplies last). There will also be informational booths set up by local partners for all to enjoy. One night of free camping is available for volunteer groups that are interested in staying onsite at Success Lake the night before the event.

Come on out to lend a hand at the NPLD event at Success Lake located at 30300 Highway 190 in Porterville. Registration will open at 7 a.m. and the event will last until 2 p.m. Those who have any questions or would like to sign up for the event, please call (559) 784-0215.
