The newest medical clinic in Porterville, Family Medicine Clinic, cut the ribbon for their grand opening on Tuesday afternoon, in front of their location at 93 N. Villa Street.

The beautiful modern facility has been open to the public for some time, but they celebrated their “grand opening” on Tuesday, and it was nothing short of a party. With four food trucks lined up in their lot, and more than fifty people there to applaud the clinic’s opening, the festivities began shortly after noon.

Porterville Mayor Martha Flores greeted the clinic’s two doctors, Maria Perez Cunanan, M.D. and Francis Cunanan, M.D., with a hearty smile before they whisked her away to stand with the homemade ribbon, courtesy of Mrs. Cunanan. Joining them for the cutting of the ribbon were Maria Fe Agudo, Brandi Guinn, Jeff Robertson and Eric Mcconnaughey. Mr. Cunanan counted to three, and with a ceremonious snip, the ribbon floated to the ground signaling the triumphant opening of the Cunanan’s clinic.

“We are so fortunate to have them in the community,” said Ron Wheaton, Vice President of Sierra View Medical Center’s Physician Recruitment & Professional Services. “They are both wonderful physicians.”

The Cunanan’s have been serving the community of Porterville for 18 years, but decided that it was time to branch out to their own independent facility.

“We are invested in continuing here in Porterville,” said Maria Cunanan. “We are family physicians. We take care of newborns to 101 year olds. We are just excited to be here, as you can see. Porterville has been good to us.”

“Our patients are the ones bringing in new patients because they know what they like,” added Francis Cunanan. “It’s that they see either me or [Mrs. Cunanan]. They bring us their family. It’s nice to know that they are being well taken care of.”

Family Medicine Clinic is located at 93 N. Villa Street in Porterville. The Cunanan’s are pleased to say that they cover most, if not all, medical services. For more information, please call the clinic at (559)781-6900.
