Valley Air District invites students to submit artwork for 2020 Kids’ Calendar
Teachers and parents with creative young artists are urged to give their kids crayons and paper (or even a laptop and MS Paint!) and allow their creativity to take over! The Valley Air District is accepting entries for the 2020 Healthy Air Living Kids’ Calendar contest. All students from kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to enter.
Entries must be in by Monday, October 7. Winners are featured in our annual bilingual calendar, produced with the artwork and cleanair messages from students throughout the San Joaquin Valley. Winning artwork will depict how residents can live a Health Air Life and help clean our Valley’s air.
Calendars will be distributed to schools, community groups, healthcare facilities and other clean-air partners who appreciate protecting public health and improving quality of life for all Valley residents.
Guidelines for creating a winning Healthy Air Living calendar entry: • Paper should be placed sideways, in landscape orientation, so it is 8-1/2 inches high and 11 inches wide • Artwork should be in
color. Produced by paint, pen, crayon, marker, pencil or even computergenerated art. Vivid colors are recommended. • Artwork should contain a message about how to live a Healthy Air life. Examples of past messages are “Switch off your engine,” “Apague su motor,” “Be cool and carpool when going to school.” • Bilingual and Spanish-language
messages are encouraged.
As many as 14 works of art may be selected for the 2020 calendar. Artists need to include their name, address, phone number, e-mail, age, grade and school on the back of the entry. Please mail art flat, not folded or stapled, to: 2020 Kids’ Calendar Contest, Valley Air District, 1990 E. Gettysburg Ave., Fresno, CA 93726, or drop off your entry at the nearest District office in Modesto, Fresno or Bakersfield.
