To Everett Alvarez. The A4 Skyhawk he flew in Vietnam was dedicated to him at Porterville Aiport during a ceremony on Tuesday. Alvarez spent eight and a half years as a Prisoner of War. We thank Alvarez for his sacrifice and all military personnel and veterans for their sacrifice, including those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
To Porterville College for being at the top of meeting the requirements of AB705 designed to make sure more students are enrolled in introductory courses that are at the transfer level. A study by the California Acceleration Program of 47 community colleges in the state determinded PC offered 100 percent of its introductory sessions in math and English that were at a transfer level. Pasadena City College was the only other community college in the study to accomplish that feat.
To Harmony Magnet Academy for being ranked as the No. 1 public school in Tulare County by Niche. Harmony was also ranked No. 34 out of 395 charter high schools in the state by Niche and rank No. 40 out of all the public high schools in the state by Niche.

The newest medical clinic in Porterville, Family Medicine Clinic, cut the ribbon for its grand opening on Tuesday afternoon, in front of its location at 93 N. Villa Street.
