Kids deserve decent roof over their heads
Our school’s roof is leaking. Please help us fix it.
No one likes new taxes, myself included, but the “skepticism” John Hardin expressed in his op-ed is misplaced. I believe in our kids, so I need to believe in and support their schools.
I believe that our teachers and administrators are dedicated, kind individuals who often work extra hours, contributing their own funds to help kids succeed because they want the best for our children.
I believe PUSD will follow the law and use Measure L funds as required – to fix our leaky roofs, broken pipes, and non-ada compliant bathrooms – and an independent oversight committee of community residents ensures this.
I believe we will lose State funding without Measure L. Porterville is qualified to receive $31.5 million in State funds, but a local match is required. Measure L is that match. If Measure L fails, the state will give those funds to communities that do pass their Measures — places like LA Unified, Clovis, and Beverly Hills. I believe we need it more than they do.
I believe that if Measure L fails, needed repairs will be made anyway, which will take money away from budgets meant for teachers, staff, and educational programs. This will result in larger classes and less individual student support.
Most of all, I believe in my kids. They work hard and accomplish wonderful things every day. There are thousands of other kids like them in our community.
I believe they deserve a decent roof over their heads.
I believe you should vote YES on Measure L.
