Military banners on display — all 629 of them
All 629 military banners honoring those from this area who have served their country or are now serving are now on display in Porterville.
This year, 214 banners were added in Porterville. Almost all those banners are on display on Olive Avenue between Main Street and Westwood. Individuals in every branch of the military are represented.
Each year, the program continues to grow and we are humbled by the response of this community in honoring its military heroes,” the City of Porterville stated.
The location of the banners are available on the city’s online interactive military banner map at https://porterville. maps.arcgis.com/. The man can also be found on the military banner section on the City of Porterville website, http:// www.ci.porterville.ca.us/.
The map not only shows the location of each banner, but also has a picture of the banner, years of service, branch, and rank for each individual.
The City of Porterville did have to cancel its 2020 Military Banner Ceremony which was scheduled to be held on Friday. But the Porterville City Council will provide a special video tribute to celebrate those who the military banners honor.
The video will be available on the City of Porterville Youtube channel beginning Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.

Those who wish to retrieve their photos can go to the City of Porterville Parks and Leisure Services office inside City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
All of the photos will be kept for those who choose not to come to the office until current conditions have improved.
