Gene was a gift. Anyone who knew him loved him instantly. He “hooked” the love of his life who he adored, Juli Potter on Oct. 23rd, passing just before 50 years of marriage. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, P.M.A.F member and an incredible friend.

Gene was a fisherman by nature. If you could fish, Gene was there! He made so many wonderful fishermen friends out on the waters. When he wasn’t fishing, he worked as a welder and a truck driver. Gene moved to California from Springfield MO at 17, raised his only daughter Nicole here, and then he and his wife retired back to Shell Knob, MO after their daughter passed away of cancer, then moving back to California so his queen could be near family while he was fighting cancer.

Gene loved his family and friends very much.

If you needed him he was there in a second! Gene’s wife was his queen and his grandchildren were his world; especially his great-grand boys. He was the world’s best papa! He was preceded in death by his daughter Nicole, mother Jean Moore, father Virgel

Potter, his brother Donald Potter and his special aunt Celia Lopez.

Gene leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Juli Potter, Granddaughter's Tara Rodman (Corey), Sierra Curry, and Grandson Timothy Curry. Great grandson’s Keegan Rodman and Luke and Gene Letterman. Sister’s Pat Powell (Garry) and Laveeda Smith (Charlie) and brother Richard Potter all of Missouri. Aunt Sandy Allen of Woodlake, Ca and Aunt and uncle Bob and Peggy Turner of Oregon. Lots of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Special thanks would like to be given to Dr. Durazo, Dr. Kim, Dr. Shekar, Optimal Hospice Care and all the amazing staff at the Cancer Treatment Center in Porterville. His brother in law’s Billy and Guillen Guillen, and his sister in law Lily Guillen. His Niece, Heather and the entire Magana family. He was loved incredibly and will be, and already is so very missed. We know he is now perfect, glorified and fishing with Jesus. His ashes will be spread in Timberridge Cemetery in Elkland Missouri with his daughter.

“Stay Awhile”

Condolences may be sent to Juli Potter 720 E. Worth Spc 21S Porterville, Ca 93257.
