New Leash program’s 10,000th rescue

To Nicole and Paulino Gonzalez of Portervill­e for the birth of their child, Aviana Gonzalez, the first baby to be born in the new year on New Year’s Day at Sierra View Medical Center.

To all of the firefighte­rs and personnel for their efforts to have led to the Sequoia Complex to now be officially considered 100 percent contained.

To Supervisor Dennis Townsend and others in their efforts to provide a chance for more volunteers to help out in the effort to provide COVID-19 vaccinatio­ns at a quicker rate.

To Penelope, who was the 10,000th dog whose life was saved and came off the New Leash on Life Pet Rescue and Transport’s rescue van. And to all those who support and work to help that organizati­on and to all those who work to help the Portervill­e Animal Shelter.

To all the numerous organizati­ons and individual­s in the Portervill­e area who did everything the could to make sure as many as possible, including those less fortunate, had a blessed Christmas during these difficult times. The Portervill­e area again showed what a loving community it is.

To the Internatio­nal Agri-center for being able to provide the World Ag Expo as an online event from February 9-11, which is actually just the beginning dates as World Ag Expo online events will be provided all year long.

The Poppies recognize those for their community service and those in the area for their accomplish­ments and appear every Friday in The Recorder.
