Tule River Tribe receives $250k grant
The Tulare County Superior Court announced Mikki Verissimo has been selected as Tulare County’s newest Commissioner.
Commissioner Verissimo was appointed by a vote of the Superior Court Judges after a recruitment last year. Verissimo will preside over the court’s arraignment calendar and will be assigned to the South County Justice Center in Porterville.
“Mikki’s many years at the District Attorney’s office provide a strong public service background that will be beneficial in her new role. She is well respected and an excellent choice. I am confident she will continue to serve the people of Tulare County well in her new position,” said Court Executive Officer Stephanie Cameron.
Verissimo has over 15 years of public sector experience after serving as the Supervising Deputy District Attorney with the Tulare County District Attorney’s office. Verissimo attended University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and earned her law degree at Southwestern School of Law. She is married to her husband, Mike, and they have one child.
“Commissioner Verissimo brings with her a proven track record of being fair, experienced, knowledgeable, and of the highest good character. She is well prepared to assume her new responsibilities in a complex and high volume arraignment calendar. Mikki is a welcome addition to the Tulare County Superior Court.” said Presiding Judge David Mathias.
Commissioners are subordinate judicial officers employed by the court to hear matters as assigned pursuant to statue or stipulation. Verissimo fills a vacancy created by the judicial appointment of the Honorable Ricky Tripp. Verissimo will earn $181,758 annually.
