Mickey entered the Spirit World on Thursday, January 14, 2021. He was 63 years old. He lost his battle to kidney failure.
Mickey was a Spiritual Leader for the Tule River Tribe as well as a Bear Dancer during Native Ceremonies.
He was preceded in death by his father Andy Burrough and mother Ruth (Garfield) Burrough and granddaughter Alyssa Celaya. Also preceding him were his brothers Jerry & Donald Burrough and sister Theresa (Burrough) Ammerman, grandparents Fred & Guadalupe (Roberts) Garfield and John & Frances (Grisgby) Burrough, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins.
Survivors include his sons: Vincent Jr., & Fred Burrough and Lewis Christman. Daughters: Lindsay (Burrough) Ilar and Priscilla (Garfield) Quintero as well as 19 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Siblings: Robin Burrough & Sharon Burrough, Anna (Burrough) Maldonado, Tammy Byars and Krista (Byars) Reed.
Mickey was born on the Tule River Indian Reservation and resided there his entire life.
He was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church where he received his sacraments including Baptism and Holy Communion.
Mickey graduated from Sherman Indian High School (an Indian Boarding school), in Riverside, California. While attending Sherman he participated in football. He was the President of his Junior and Senior class.
Mickey held various employment positions in his life including a seat as a member of the Tule River Tribal Council, Alcohol Counselor, Maintenance Director, and Recreation Director. Mickey was also a Cage Fighting Judge at Eagle Mountain Casino.
He also mentored the youth as a Little League Coach as well as a Flag Football Coach.
Funeral services will be as follows:
Viewing will be January 24, 2021 from 2-4 pm at Porterville Funeral & Crematory.
After the viewing he will be escorted home.
Rosary will be at 6 pm at the Tule River Gymnasium.
Burial Services will be January 25, 2021 at 10 am at the Lower Cemetery, the burial service will be a Traditional Native ceremony.
Following the burial there will be a drive thru dinner at the Tule River Gymnasium.
