Active cases fall, recoveries rise

County offers assistance with vaccines

According to Tulare County Health and Human Services’ most recent COVID-19 report, the county is continuing to show a decline in active cases. While a decrease in active cases is a good sign, deaths due to COVID-19 have continued to increase in Tulare County.

Since March 11, 2020, there have been a total of 48,901 cases in Tulare County. The number of overall cases in the county increased by 23 on Wednesday over Tuesday’s report.

The number of active case greatly decreased on Wednesday, as the health department reported a 37 case drop. There are now 521 people in Tulare County who have actively have cases of COVID-19.

The health department reported one new death over the previous day. There have now been 802 deaths in Tulare County due to COVID-19. The county has data on 793 deaths of which 600 were ages 65 and over, 177 were ages 41-64 and 15 were ages 26-40. One child has died in Tulare County due to complicati­ons with COVID-19.

There have been 192 deaths related to nursing homes and 601 deaths not related to nursing homes.

The health department reported 59 recoveries on Wednesday’s report, bringing the total number of those who have recovered after testing positive for COVID-19 to 47,578.

Since March 11, 2020, there have been 9,899 cases in the Portervill­e area, 156 cases in Springvill­e, 43 cases in foothill-mountain communitie­s, 709 cases in Terra Bella, 620 cases in Strathmore, 1,792 cases in Lindsay, 8,712 cases in Tulare, 4,165 cases in Dinuba, 325 cases in Richgrove, 784 cases in Pixley, 365 cases in Tipton, 79 cases in Alpaugh, 1,454 cases in Earlimart, 1,155 cases in Farmersvil­le, 1,041 cases in Exeter, 52 cases in Three Rivers, 904 cases in Woodlake, 747 cases in Cutler, 1,464 cases in Orosi, 90 cases

in Goshen, 265 cases in Traver, 60 cases in the Reedley area, 22 cases in Orange Cove and 494 cases in Ivanhoe.

In Visalia there have been 5,337 cases in one region, 3,513 cases in another region and 4,203 cases in a third region.

There have been 7,321 cases ages 0-17, 7,596 cases ages 18-25, 13,719 cases ages 2640, 15,168 cases ages 41-64 and 5,070 cases ages 65 and older.

There have been 27,311 cases who have been Hispanic, 6,826 have been Caucasian, 988 have been Asian, 347 have been African American, 321 have been Native American, 1,612 have been multirace and 11,496 are unknown.

When it comes to vaccines, Tulare County has received a total of 129,075 doses as of March 22. The total number of people who work or live in the county and have received at least on dose of the vaccine is 93,331.

As of Monday, 351 doses went to those ages 0-17, 37,756 doses to those ages 18-49, 23,252 doses to those ages 50-64, and 31,958 to those ages 65 and older. There have been 43,253 doses have been administer­ed to Hispanics, 33,317 doses have been administer­ed to Caucasians, 3,086 doses have been administer­ed to Asians, 805 doses have been administer­ed to African Americans, 301 doses have been administer­ed to Native Americans, 810 doses have been administer­ed to those who are multi-race, 5,670 doses have been administer­ed to those who identify as other, and 5,882 doses have been administer­ed unknown ethnicitie­s.

County call center offering free scheduling and assistance for COVID vaccines

As vaccinatio­n efforts ramp up throughout Tulare County, the Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency’s COVID Vaccine Call Center is available to help assist residents with securing vaccinatio­n appointmen­ts over the phone. The COVID Call Center is available to assist the elderly without internet and non-english–speaking residents in obtaining a vaccinatio­n for COVID-19; simply call (559) 685-2260.

“Our local COVID Vaccine Call Center is here to serve our residents and help them with navigating the at-times complicate­d process for securing a COVID vaccinatio­n appointmen­t,” stated Timothy Lutz, Agency Director for the Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency. “We are coordinati­ng and providing all means necessary to get the people of Tulare County vaccinated.”

The COVID Vaccine Call Center operated by Tulare County HHSA is available in English and Spanish, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Persons who call after hours can leave a voicemail with their contact informatio­n, and a Call Center representa­tive will return their call.
