Hungary anyone?
As an older veteran who has lived through and extensively studied history, I have been astonished at the uncomfortable and unpatriotic transformation of the GOP in the past couple decades.
In particular the election to the Presidency of the bullying, narcissistic liar named Donald Trump. This foul-mouthed con man and cult leader has refused to concede the loss of a fair election and becomes the only President to do so. He lost by more than 7 million votes and has continued to claim the election was rigged and stolen from him even though there is absolutely NO evidence of widespread voter fraud. This disgusting human being incited the January 6 insurrection and now calls it a peaceful protest with “hugs and kisses!” His actions as well as his followers’ blind allegiance to this adolescent’s illogical and dangerous rantings are undermining the rule of law and our democratic government. This is a truly deplorable human being. His political underlings are hanging on to his popularity for purely political power, not in the best interests of American.
We have a party that includes the likes of Mccarthy, MTG, Graham, Goetz, Nunes, Jordan and many other syncophants who are downplaying the events of January 6. This list doesn’t even include the fools of Fox News. Tucker Carlson is fomenting hatred and fear with his constant stream of untruths. Donald and these sheep have attacked the integrity of our election system and support restrictive voting laws to be able to remain in power, all while slowly losing the white majority status.
Recently Tucker Carlson, the most watched news broadcaster (scary in itself) went to pay tribute to the dictator of Hungary, proclaiming admiration for their system of government. This is the type of government that Donald Trump and his followers would prefer: a strong man leader over an authoritarian capitalist system which is anti-freedom of the press, anti-gay and antiimmigrant. Trump has ranted about the press being the enemy of the people while encouraging his troops to attack reporters and news people. Anyone else concerned about the GOP’S slow creep into authoritarianism? Disinformation is Trump and his followers main tool to help spread alternative realities (The Big Lie). Pay attention and get your information from a wide varity of sources. Fact check.
The veterans and those old enough to remember the history of the free world should be outraged at the direction of the GOP. It is very sad to know that about 40 percent of our population is susceptible to following an autoritarian leader like one Donald J. Trump. Trump has succeeded in planting and nurturing the growth of this ugly move to the far right. Where are the respectable, old-school Republicans who believed in law and order and respect for our system of government? Oh, that’s right, they’re getting belittled and sidelined by the sheepherders.
