Porterville Recorder

Thank You from the Family Crisis Center

-

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Central California Family Crisis Center, I want to take a moment to thank our generous sponsors and participants of our recent Pound the Pavement for Purple Virtual 5K. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of families here in Porterville affected by domestic violence.

In the United States, one in four women and one in seven men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. The Family Crisis Center (FCC) is here to help these victims in our community, and we cannot do this alone. As with other non-profit and charitable organizations, COVID-19 has had a severe impact on our ability to fundraise. FCC decided to hold this event during October (Domestic Violence Awareness month) and had to become creative when it came to an event, hence the virtual 5K. We appreciate each business and personal sponsorship brought in during this unique fundraiser. A special thank you to Rob Smith of Smith Promotions, the Sheltered Workshop Copy Center, and the Porterville Recorder for assisting with shirt design and printing, fliers, and advertising.

Thank you to our business sponsors: Calico Mermaid, Suncrest Bank, Harris Home Furnishings, A&G Telephone Service, Aircooled Heating and Air Conditioning, Bank of the Sierra, Berra Brothers Farms, Century 21 Jordan Link & Co., Cruz Transport, E.M. Tharpe, Inc., Fort Klamath Ranch, Granite Hills High School Law, Justice, and Ethics Pathway, Hergeshiemers‘s Donut Factory, Homes for Rent, hue. salon, Krase, Bailey, Reed-krase LLP, Oregon Royal Sturgeon Company, Paul Morgan Salon, Pete’s Piping, Porterville House of Glass, Porterville Monument Works, The Porterville Blackhole Chapter, Town & Country Market, and the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office. We had an overwhelming number of individual sponsors as well and we cannot thank them enough.

We also want to thank all those who participated in the Virtual 5K. Thank you for proudly wearing your shirt and Pounding the Pavement to help victims of domestic violence in our emergency shelter.

Event shirts and pins are still available for pickup at the FCC office located at 211 N. Main. If you did not participate but would like a shirt/pin, the cost is $15. If you are interested in donating to FCC or would like to find out more about volunteering or board membership, please contact Mary Culver at the FCC office.

Thank you again,

Karen Vanni FCC Board of Directors Event Chair
