Tid-bits of Health: Students Take Charge #15

-

On Christmas Day, we can relax and reflect on this year’s life experiences and lessons. Test week is behind us, and grades are in. The final exam included two questions. 1) From all the various Health Experiences you did this semester, what are the three most significant? 2) How do you see your future affected by your Health Experiences?

STUDENT: The most significant areas I improved in are my wellbeing, digestive system, and relationships. These drastically impacted how my daily life turned out. It really didn’t take much to change a simple eating habit, add weight lifting for my well-being, do restorative poses or catch up on sleep. For my digestive system, I made sure my food was chewed correctly. I started drinking water, consuming probiotics, and eating breakfast instead of skipping it. For improving my relationships around me, I introduced new ways to hang out.

STUDENT: The three most significant areas I have focused on are getting enough sleep, choosing healthy alternatives in foods, and exercising. I planned out my day well enough to make sure I was receiving the proper amount of sleep. Prior to this class, I never really eat breakfast; but now, I make sure I eat breakfast every day. I also make sure I eat healthy foods like bananas and oatmeal and not just stimulants like coffee. Lastly, I focused on exercising by joining cross country. I see a very healthy future for me.

STUDENT: Now, I know the benefits of improving my health, and I see a positive future. I improve my digestion, keep myself properly hydrated, and I’ve learned ways to distract myself from the game or TV in a positive manner. Putting myself through these health experiences has helped me develop many skills I, otherwise, would not have acquired. I am grateful.

STUDENT: I thought I knew a decent amount of information about my body; but after this course, I’ve realized there is so much more I need to learn. These health experiences have changed my view on certain habits I used to have. I’ve focused on adding recipes and foods into my diet. After exercise, I experimented with repairing and relaxing my muscles with baking soda or Epsom Salt baths. My future self will be drastically affected by all I have learned, because I am more open to how well natural remedies heal and treat my body.

STUDENT: This course helped me learn that I am the one in charge of my health. I learned to be more open minded and ask questions. It’s best to make decisions after I listen to both sides of the story. I plan to stay committed to managing my time, sleeping more, concentrate on completing my school work, eating healthier to keep my stomach full longer, and alleviating stress. These positive changes will benefit me in the long run.

STUDENT: I see my future as a great and healthy one as I continue doing my habits of working out, stretching, eating better, and chewing more. Going outside without my glasses lets my eyes get enough sunlight without windows and glasses blocking it. I will also ask doctors questions to make sure I’m being cured, and not given medicine to only get rid of the pain for a while.

STUDENT: This class has introduced me to the incredible world of holistic healing. I’ve had the opportunity of aiding my mom with her health journey using methods we learned in class; such as, tracking her body composition, one-meal-in one-meal-out, and getting rid of foods high in artificial additives. I see my future changing for the positive while using natural alternatives. I hope to have chances to help other family members and friends with their health; because, without our health, we have nothing.

STUDENT: The three most significant areas I focused on are my sleeping habits, digestion, and body movement. Now, I’m not as tired and stressed out in the morning. This class has really helped me see myself more healthily. I am more productive and self-motivated. I see my future being affected, because I am more energetic and active with my family. I drink enough water so my body stays hydrated, and I go outside and get deep breaths of fresh air. Mainly, I know how to deal with my stress better. This class has taught me that stress is, sometimes, very good for me, because it makes me stronger. I will take that with me in the long run. Thank you, Professor Harral, for this positive impactful semester.
