It is with heavy hearts that after a long battle with cancer, we must tell you of the passing of Todd Austin of Burbank on May 2, 2022.

Todd was raised in Porterville, attending Westfield, Bartlett, and Monanche Schools. At an early age he showed an interest in flying and police work. Using a class at Monanche with Travis Bierman, he was able to obtain his drivers license and private pilot license on his 16th birthday.

After some time working in radio at KTIP, K-100, and K-jug he moved to Southern CA., where his first job there was as a dispatcher for an alarm company. While working there he received a National Award for his work and was rewarded with a trip to Japan to visit the parent company.

In the year 2000 he started working for the LAPD Communication Dispatch Center as an “on the board” dispatcher. He was employed there for 22 years, rising to the rank of “Senior Police Service Representation Officer in Charge of Operations Support Unit inside LAPD Communication Division”. During his time working at the center he received numerous awards and commendations.

He also traveled to several other cities around the country as a presenter. One of his proudest achievements was when he assisted with the changeover of the 911 system from the CHP to the dispatch center for Los Angeles County.

Another of his greatest pleasures was to be in or around Pismo Beach whether it be on the dunes, or having a steak at Joeko’s. Todd also had a love of animals and visited the Los Angeles zoo on a regular basis. While there he made many friends both with the animals and also the other visitors at the zoo. Todd was a generous, friendly, and well liked person to anyone he met.
