Bettye Jean Vossler

-

Bettye Jean Vossler, our wonderful mom, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. Bettye was born on July 14, 1929 in Yuma, Arizona, while her family was on their way to Porterville.

In 1947 she graduated from Porterville High School and later that same year married her sweetheart Gerald Vossler, the day after her 18th birthday. Together they raised three children - Dan, Tina, and Ty, all the while being active in the Woodville farming community. After retirement from farming, Mom and Dad enjoyed fishing most notably at June Lake and Eagle Lake each fall.

Bettye lived in the Porterville area for 80 years and attended the Grand Avenue Methodist Church until she moved to Bakersfield to be with family. Bettye was a talented cook and hosted many wonderful parties. Costume parties were her favorite, with some being planned for a year in advance. Mom also taught us to work hard and be organized. She loved to read and write and encouraged us to do the same.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Vossler; and grandson, Brett Vossler.

She is survived by sons, Dan Vossler (April) and Ty Vossler (Silvia); daughter, Tina Hardaway (Don); eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren, whom she dearly loved and enjoyed.

A Graveside service will be held at Woodville Cemetery on Wednesday, May 18th, 2022 at 10:00 AM, with lunch following at Myers Reception Hall at 11:00 AM.
