To the Monache softball team for its Southern California State Division IV runner-up finish after advancing to the Southern California State Division IV Championsh­ip Game.

To Sierra View Medical Center and the Roger S. Good Cancer Treatment Center for honoring cancer survivors on Friday. National Cancer Survivor’s Day was on Sunday. And to all the cancer survivors and their families and to Sierra View and the Roger S. Good Cancer Treatment Center for making their recovery possible.

To the Portervill­e Fire Department who turned 132 years old on Thursday, June 9. The department was formed on June 9, 1890.

To the City of Portervill­e and to all those for the hard work they put in to make the opening of the temporary library between Grocery Outlet and The Dollar Tree a reality. The temporary library will open on July 1.

To 18-year-old artist Cesar Martinez Jr. for the opening of his studio in downtown Portervill­e.

To Mandy Ranteria, a registered nurse in Sierra View Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit, who was recently presented the DAISY Award for extraordin­ary nurses. Ranteria made an impact on a patient who nominated her for the DAISY Award. The DAISY Award was created to recognize excellence in nursing across the nation.
