Seven to be inducted into 2023 Monache Hall of Fame Dinner and ceremony to be held March 4
Four three-sport stars from the early 70s, a former great in swimming and water polo and two legendary coaches and educators will be among the seven Monache Athletic Hall of Fame inductees for the class of 2023.
Monache’s Athletic Hall of Fame and Induction Ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 4 at the Porterville Veterans Memorial Building. Happy hour will be from 5 to 6 p.m., dinner will be from 6 to 7 and the induction ceremony will begin at 7:15.
Bill Brown, Stan Sewell, Mitch Butler and Bruce Butler, 1972 graduates who were all three-sport athletes in football, basketball and baseball will be among those inducted.
Also to be inducted will be water polo and swimming standout Greg Hevener, a 1990 Monache graduate and two legendary Monache educators and coaches who were among the first to serve at the school and had longtime careers at Monache: Dawrence Rice and Carroll Land. Rice was at Monache from 1968-2013 and Land was at Monache from 19682019. Rice is being honored for his lifetime service to the school and Land is well-known as a longtime basketball and golf coach at Monache.

Tickets are $50 per person $350 for a table of 8. The Monache culinary arts program will be catering the event.
Ticket sales will end on February 25. Those attending need to bring their e-ticket for admittance on Saturday, March 4. No tickets will be sold at the door.
