Deanna Lynn Thompson Newsom
Deanna Lynn Thompson Newsom, 74, went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2023 in Porterville, CA. Deanna was born on May 22, 1948, in Lindsay, CA.
She first lived north of Woodville on a small family farm. Then, in 1957, she moved with her parents to Porterville where she remained the rest of her life. She graduated from Porterville High School in 1967. She immediately took on the job that she excelled at the most and was most passionate about her entire life, a Mom. A mom like no other! She was always there for her kids and put her kids and family first. She gave the best advice, whether we wanted to hear it or not. She wanted to protect us to the best she could. She loved each and every one to the fullest. Then, in 1976, she was hired by Good Sheppard Lutheran Home. Years later, she went to Porterville College where she received her CNA license and furthered her education to get her Home Health Aide license. She enjoyed working with elderlies for the majority of her working career. She took on jobs that consisted of a home health aide for a variety of companies such as Best Care Home Health, ABC Home Health Care, Sierra View Home Health Care and then worked for Guardian Angels in Home Care.
Deanna enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and watching her daily tv shows, the LA Lakers and her LA Dodgers. She enjoyed going to Tioga Pass, Morro Bay, Solvang and many fishing trips. Overall, she enjoyed the company of her husband, children and grandchildren.
Deanna was a beloved wife and best friend of Dennis Newsom for 39 years and married for 36 of those years. Devoted mother of Ricky Lee Rountree (Dinorah), Larry Dale Rountree (Monica), Christopher Wayne Newsom, Sheri Lynn Mccaulley, Staci Leann Rountree all of Porterville, and two bonus children Laura Jean Graham (Josh) of Alvin, Texas, and Lisa Ann Brooks (Jarle) of Pyallup, Washington. She is survived by one brother Allen Dewayne Thompson of Emmett, Idaho, two sisters Pat Weller of Reno, Nevada and Betty Collier of Stockton, CA.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother Birl Allen and Bonnie B Mcclellan Thompson, brothers Derrell (Dale) Odell Thompson and Larry Gene Thompson.
Visitation will be on Thursday February 2, 2023 at 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Porterville Funeral & Cremation Center. A celebration of life will be held at Porterville Funeral & Cremation Center on Friday February 3, 2023 at 10:00am. After the celebration of life burial will be at Woodville Cemetery. After burial luncheon will be at the Residence of Mathew & Bridget Kidder 16411 Avenue 152, Porterville, CA.
