Robert Ishida
Lindsay, California Robert (Bob) Ishida passed away on November 27 2022. He was born in Lindsay, California on February 13, 1923 to Horoturo (Tuck) Ishida and Hesoyo Okagi. His mother passed away shortly after he was born, so his father brought his mother from Japan to help raise the Ishida children.
He graduated from Lindsay High School in 1941. In April 1942 he voluntarily relocated to Corrine, Utah with his brother Ralph and father with the help of the Morinaka and Ishida families with the support of the Utah-idaho Sugar Company.
In 1947 he married Aiko Jean Hirabayashi and moved back to Lindsay in 1948. He grew many different vegetables with tomatoes being his favorite while becoming a citrus grower. He also worked and retired from the Navel Orange Administrative Committee (Prorate) which he enjoyed meeting and working with people in the citrus business. During the years farming he developed a special bond with the Centeno family from Lindsay. He enjoyed being a farmer and never retired.
He and Jean enjoyed RV traveling, international travel, fishing and spending time with family. He enjoyed duck hunting and going up to Eagle Mountain Casino.
Robert served over 30 years on the Lindsaystrathmore Cemetery Board. Robert was a member of the Porterville Masonic Lodge. He served several years as the Chapter Dad for the Lindsay Order of Demolay.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jean, his parents, brothers William (Helen), Ralph (Maude), and sister Ida Takemoto.
He is survived by his sons Allen (Wanda) and Randy (Joan); six grandchildren Brad, Ken (Annalise), Barbara (Don), Cindi (Diego), Chris (Allison), Ryan (Kelly); eight great grandchildren.
Robert's celebration of life will be held at (11:30AM) February 25, at the Palace Kitchen and Craft Bar, 22 E. Oak Ave., Porterville.
