Thanks PPD, PFD for how it handled homeless encampment

I wish to commend, Cpl. Silva PPD and Fireman Pete Gurrero PFD for their recent handling of a homeless encampment on my mother’s property on the bank of Porter Slough. Fireman Gurerro issued a letter of complaint to my mother on 1-22-23 advising her that she would have to clean up the debris and weeds in the area, not to mention getting rid of the homeless.

My mom’s in her 90’s, hard of hearing, walks with a walker, and has poor eyesight. Needless to say, just the thought of confronting two homeless men gave her visions of being murdered in her bed.

Through tact, cooperation, and a whole lot of common-sense Cpl. Silva and Fireman Guerro handled the problem, and my mom is fine. No fines were issued to her, the homeless are gone and yesterday cleanup was completed.

I’d also like to give a shout out to Small Properties-general Cleanup and Marvin Santizo for their understanding, cooperation, and reasonable price. James Jones Pioche, Nev.

Thanks Porterville Funeral and Cremation Center

Dear Juan Zuniga, Daniel Vierra, Ramon Barerra, Frankie Olmedo , Gloria Anderson and Staff at Porterville Funeral & Cremation Centeron behalf of the entire family, I want to thank you and everyone at Porterville Funeral & Cremation Center for the caring and professional manner in which you handled the services and burial for our mom. It was a very difficult situation for us and we are still struggling in dealing with her loss, but you and your staff did an exemplary job in working with us through this tough time. For that we are truly grateful and very appreciative of how much you and your staff care.

Juan- You went over and beyond. When we needed to make changes, you accommodated us. When we needed to have clarifications, you took the time to explain (even on your day off).

You returned the calls/emails immediately! You were very patient and thoroughly explained things when our minds weren’t thinking clearly. Thank you, Juan. It meant so much to us!

Daniel- No words can describe in how much you are appreciated. The day before my mom’s viewing, you were there for me with a tremendous amount of patience and let me take my time as I kept having to gather myself together to do what I needed to do (you know what this was all about). You were there every step of the way guiding me with support and patience. Thank you, Daniel, from the bottom of my heart. You do your job well and the perfect person for the job position you hold. Thank you so much, Daniel!

Ramon- A prayer warrior! You did an amazing job assisting the family and helping us with whatever was needed. You were very patient at all times, when we didn’t want to leave the night of the viewing…..you let us stay longer until we were ready to say goodbye to our mom for that night. Your words alone….helped us in many ways. Thank you for taking over my phone the day of the service and helping my long distance family members go live on social media. We appreciate you, Ramon so very much!

Frankie- One of the hardest times of our families lives that we will ever experience……but having you there to preach His word to us and let us know that God is in control and that it’s OK to feel how we feel. You said the right words and the right verses at the most perfect time. You offering your time to be there for us and coax us through this difficult time. You are such a nice hearted person that is so kind and you can see it’s all natural for you. Thank you so much Frankie!

Gloria- Thank you, Gloria (my mom’s friend since junior high). My mom always loved you and thought so highly of you. Thank you for being there for me and helping me out, the day before the viewing and guiding/helping me do her hair. Gloria- my mom was pretty much right on everything and this includes what she told me about you. You have such a passion in what you do and it shows dearly. You have so much patience and such a sweet personality. People like you sure help comfort people like my family and I during the difficult time that we went and are going through. Thank you so much, Gloria!

Again, thank you all for your kindness in all you’ve done for our family. I hope we do not need your services in the future, but if we do we will definitely call and go through you again. We couldn’t had asked for a better funeral home for our mom. The staff took such good care of her and the family. Thank you ALL at Porterville Funeral & Cremation Center. “Grace is God reaching down, Faith is man reaching up!”

Thank you for all that you had done for us! Staci Rountree and Family Daughter of Deanna Newsom
