To Monache’s Jacob Perez, Noel Ceballos and Jacob Estrada and Portervill­e High’s Zach Klarcyk, Delilah Maldonado, Samantha Pina and Khloe Soria for qualifying the the State Wrestling Championsh­ips which began on Thursday and are being held through Saturday at Bakersfiel­d’s Mechanics Bank Arena.

To the Portervill­e College men’s basketball team for advancing to the State Playoffs and winning the program’s first state playoff game in 23 years.

To Monache’s Schyler Collins for being selected as that school’s representa­tive to Boys State by the Terra Bella American Legion Post No. 779.

To Portervill­e Military Academy’s Tristin Galvan for becoming the second PMA student to be selected to participat­e in the U.S. Air Force’s Aim High Flight Academy.

To the Barn Theater Junior Company’s Kamlynn Newlin and Mercy Alcantar for being named as All-stars at the Junior Theater Festival West in Sacramento. Newlin was also selected for a callback for a yet to be announced special video project that will promote musicals in schools. And to the company’s Layla Matthiesen, Simonne Garyon, Bailey Mancebo and Milanna Garyon for winning the Tech Olympics at the festival as they posted the fastest time of all those who participat­e in the obstacle course in which they had to perform backstage tasks.

To West Putnam Elementary School for placing second in the sixth grade division and Sunnyside
