Marilyn Irene Phillips

-

Marilyn Irene Phillips was born in Porterville, California October 15, 1945 to the late Glen and Evelyn (Leming) Ballew. She passed on December 7, 2022 four days prior to the anniversary of the untimely passing of her second born son Timothy.

Marilyn was the middle of three daughters raised and attended schools in the Porterville and Terra Bella area. She loved being very involved in many clubs (including Jobs Daughters) and school activities at Porterville High School, especially being a talented and very charismatic majorette.

Soon after graduation she married Harley Phillips. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this February. Marilyn and Harley would have many beautiful life adventures in these six decades. They started their journey with Harley serving in the US Navy and living in Alameda. They acquired many lifelong friends along the way. Marilyn will be remembered for her love and gift of decorating and fashion. Her beautiful farm home was presented always season appropriate and could have been pictured in magazines. Although as a family they lived in a few different places ... ironically, she and Harley lived in the home and on the ranch that originated with her parents. Marilyn has lifelong bloodline in the Citrus Industry. She was an amazing daughter and daughter-in-law ... as she spent quality time caring for both her parents and in-laws. Years later a special home that Harley built on the ranch for his parents (Bea and Bennett Phillips) added a new layer of love for all.

Marilyn had three sons that meant so much to her. She became very involved at their schools and Strathmore baseball league. Although she worked many jobs throughout the years her greatest accomplishment would be as a mother, grandmother and wife. Her home at the ranch became the hang out for the boys and their friends ... maybe it was because of her famous fried chicken! She treasured her family and all the frequent gatherings. She truly loved cuddling with her grandkids and watching movies. She really treasured spending the last 7 years living across the street from her great-grandson "Little Brent" and helping him with after school homework, playing games and doing puzzles. She always made efforts in her family's lives. We always knew she would love to hear about our lives and adventures.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, her beloved son.

She is survived by her loving husband Harley, Sons Jim (Debbie), and Charley (Darcy). Grandchildren Brent (Melissa, great-grandchild LB), Jenna, Morgan, Jackson, Abigail, Chather (Hannah, great-grandson Westley), Hunter, Mckenna, Chloe. Extended great-grandchildren Melony (Braxton) and Ashley. Also, Sisters Beverly Hill and Glenda Jones, many nieces, nephews, cousins and VERY dear extended family members, Julie Hatcher, Angel Rangel and Nancy Morgan.

Remembrances may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Jude's or your favorite charity.
