Supervisors to consider TCSO salary adjustments Tuesday
The Tulare County Human Resources and Development Department will be requesting an annual salary for the Chief Probation Officer position during the Tulare County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday morning.
Human Resources is requesting an annual salary in the amount of $175,000 for the Chief Probation Officer position, with an additional $504 a month for an auto allowance. The county’s budget for the 2022/23 fiscal year includes funding for the salary request.
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) will approach the board on Tuesday requesting the approval of a salary increase for both the Undersheriff and the Assistant Sheriff positions effective March 12.
The staff report attached to this agenda item states that TCSO is bringing the request forward “in order to address salary compaction between various management positions.” The department is requesting a five percent salary increase for the Undersheriff and Assistant Sheriff positions, and will use salary savings from the current fiscal year’s budget to compensate for their request.
In addition to the salary setting and adjustments, the Board of Supervisors will consider an amendment to the county’s zoning ordinance to allow for the construction of 11 twostory duplexes that fall within the Visalia and Goshen Urban Development boundaries. The project would create 22 dwelling units.
The proposed location for the duplexes currently is zoned as singlefamily residential, and the request is to change the zoning to two-family residential with mixed use overlay combining overlay. The current land use designation is medium density residential. The amendment to the zoning ordinance is requested in order to address the county’s shortage of housing within its unincorporated communities and has no impact on the county’s General Fund.
The approval of the temporary closure of the Agricultural Commissioners Porterville
District Office and the Resource Management Agency Building Inspectors Porterville office is on the board’s consent calendar for Tuesday’s meeting. The offices are moving from their current location at 75 W. Olive Avenue to their new office at 346 N. Porter Road in Porterville, and will be closed from March 7 through March 17.
This Board of Supervisors meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 7 beginning at 9:00 a.m. The meeting can be attended in person or streamed live via the County of Tulare Youtube channel.
