‘Rock & Roll’ & relax: Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony streams for viewers at home
For the first time ever, music fans far and wide will be allowed a front-row seat at this special event, when the “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony” is streamed live Friday, Nov. 3, on Disney+.
Having previously aired on HBO for nearly three decades (since 1995), this brand-new livestream format brings the event into the 21st century, allowing for a much larger audience to take part in the annual celebration.
Previously, the platform (Disney+) first branched into streaming live, staged events with their presentation of Elton John’s farewell concert, which was broadcast from the Dodger Stadium earlier this year. This next foray into making live entertainment accessible comes with the promise of easy access — the ability to pause, rewind, replay and spend as much time as you’d like with your favorite performers.
The event — airing from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, starting at 8 p.m. EDT — is set to feature special guests, including St. Vincent (“Daddy’s Home,” 2021), Brandi Carlile (“The Story,” 2007), Dave Matthews (“Crash,” 1996), H.E.R. (“H.E.R.,” 2017), Chris Stapeton (“Higher,” 2023), New Edition (“Home Again,” 1996) and the aforementioned Elton John (“Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” 1973), according to a recently released article from Pitchfork magazine. Deadline went on to confirm that performances will also be made by singers Sheryl Crow (“Wildflower,” 2005), Missy Elliott (“The Cookbook,” 2005), Chaka Khan (“Chaka,” 1978) and Willie Nelson (“Stardust,” 1978), each taking the stage to honor their fellow musicians.
Inductees listed for this year’s ceremony include Kate Bush (“Hounds of Love,” 1985), George Michael (“Faith,” 1987), Rage Against the Machine (“Evil Empire,” 1996) and The Spinners (“Spinners,” 1973), alongside Crow, Elliott and Nelson. Guitarist Link Wray (“Bullshot,” 1979) and hip-hop legend DJ Kool Herc (“Last of The Classic Beats,” 2019) will both receive the Musical Influence Award, while songwriter Bernie Taupin (“Tribe,” 1987) will receive the Musical Excellence Award. In addition, Don Cornelius (of “The Soul Train Gang”) will be presented with the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
