Thirsty Moose wins best chili at Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival
EXETER — The Thirsty Moose Taphouse in Exeter took home top honors for best chili at the 11th annual Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival.
The Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival is put on by the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce and Exeter Parks and Recreation, drawing thousands of chili and beer enthusiasts from around New England.
The Oct. 7 event featured over 200 beers, ciders and hard seltzers from several breweries, including Czar’s Brewery, Deciduous Brewery, Concord Craft Brewing Company, Chapel + Main, Lone Pine Brewery, and many more.
“The Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival is a celebration of community, and a chance for festivalgoers to sample some of the finest brews and chili,” according to Greg Bisson, director of Exeter Parks and Recreation Department. “There were so many delicious and unique offerings, it’s clear to see that the Exeter Area is a destination for beer and chili lovers.”
In addition to Thirsty Moose Taphouse, eight other restaurants and breweries competed for the People’s Choice Award for Best Chili. They were Sawbelly Brewing Company, Sea Dog Brewing Company, The Railpenny Tavern, WHYM, Smuttynose Brewing Company, Omnium Brewing Company, Stark Brewing Company and Topwater Brewing Company.
“We are grateful to all our partners who helped make this day a success,” said Jennifer Wheeler, president of the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are able to host the largest beer and chili Festival in New England because of the town’s support and the commitment of so many, including our vendors, volunteers, sponsors, and attendees.”
Tickets will go on sale in December for the 2024 Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Swasey Parkway.
