Vaillant hat trick lifts Exeter over Keene

Spaulding wrestlers defend invite title

KEENE — West Vaillant’s power-play goal with 8 seconds left in regulation gave the Exeter High School boys hockey team a 3-2 win over Keene Saturday at Keene Ice Arena in a Division I game.

Vaillant had all three goals for the Blue Hawks, who improved to 2-5 on the season. It was the fourth one-goal game for Exeter this season, the first one it won.

Cam Keaveney had three assists for the Blue Hawks, while Callum Howarth and Eddie Hannan both had one. Exeter goalie Trent Fujitani had 17 saves.

BOYS HOCKEY

St. Thomas Aquinas 5

Goffstown 3

DOVER - Jackson Estes had four goals, and Rolly Edgerly had one for St. Thomas Aquinas in this Division II win at Dover Ice Arena.

Colton Woods had two assists for the Saints, and goalie Eli Alaire had 36 saves.

Dover 4

Alvirne/Milford 4

DOVER - Caleb Marasca had two goals and two assists for Dover in this Division I tie at Dover Ice Arena.

Owen Culcasi and Zack Grigg also scored for Dover (2-2-3).

York 3

Brunswick/Freeport 2

DOVER - Maclean Douris, Luke Douris

and Bradley Carr all scored for York in this Class B South win at Dover Ice Arena.

Conor Fell had two assists for the Wildcats, while Shea Buckley and Brendan Dowling both had one.

York goalie Aidan McQuaide had 26 saves.

KEENE - Anthony Allen and Ryan Dube both had two goals for Spaulding (2-2-2) in this Division II win at Keene Ice Arena.

Trevor Brennan, Cole Enman and Owen Nesbitt all scored a goal for the Red Raiders.

Tyler Jean and Enman led nine Red Raiders with three assists, while Dube, Allen, Jackson Emrich, Trevor Brennan, Logan Barker, Addison French, and Hunter Peplinski all had one.

Spaulding goalie Annabel Prochilo had 23 saves.

Record-setting day for Portsmouth Christian

EXETER – Portsmouth Christian

Academy set five school records and won four events at a 10-team New Hampshire Winter Track League meet at Phillips Exeter Academy.

PCA placed second in the meet, trailing only Phillips Exeter Academy.

Senior Tim Kelm won the 55 meters in a school-record time of 6.49 seconds. He also set a school record in the 300 (37.33). Jonas Teeter (3,000, 9:08.99) and Ivan Sturgis (600, 1:28.47) both won their respective events, setting school records. Teeter also won the 1,000.

The school’s 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Sturgis, Christian Barnes, Teeter and Kelm, set a school record with a time of 3:45.99.

WRESTLING

Spaulding wins Winnisquam Invitation­al

TILTON - The Red Raiders won four weight classes and defended its title at the 20-team Winnisquam Invitation­al.

Spaulding’s Noah Jackson (120 pounds), Jayden Deal (138), Sadie Nadeau (girls 157) and Jackson Morgan (165) all won their respective weight classes.

Evan Couture (220), Wesley Chesser (285) both placed second in their weight class, while Trey Wiley (113) and Cole Colon (144) were both third, Collin Jacques (126) and Dylan Gavallese (132) were fourth, and Brock Knapp (190) was fifth.
