Detectives with the Porter County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a possible home invasion in Center Township in which an 18-year-old man was stabbed, according to police.

The incident occurred at 6:30 p.m. Monday on Kinsale Avenue in the Waterford subdivision, according to a release from Sgt. Jamie Erow, the department’s public information officer.

An unknown person stabbed the victim while at the residence, police said.

Police said the victim’s name is not being released pending further investigation. He is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Nothing appeared to be missing from the residence, police said.

Anyone with information or video footage from a home security camera in the subdivision or surrounding area that may be related to the incident is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Darrell Hobgood at 219-477-3139.

Police do not have further suspect information at this time, Erow said, but want to remind residents to check the sheriff department’s website, www .portercountysheriff.com, for information on the SafeCam program.

“We do not wish to cause undue anxiety, however, we remind you to watch your neighbors in all parts of our community and call when you see something suspicious,” Erow said.
