Janice L. Marrs was born January 27, 1936, in Valparaiso, IN, the eldest of 2 children born to Paul and Dorothy (Michaels) Dillingham. Jan attended Liberty Center Township School in Valparaiso, IN, graduating high school with the class of 1954. Following her schooling, Jan began work at a local bank, then Porter County Country Club in Valparaiso. Life then took her to Oklahoma and Germany for a number of years before making her home in Frazee, MN in the late 1960s. In Frazee, Jan gained employment at the Daggett Truck Line where she worked for more than 30 years, retiring in 1998. Jan enjoyed camping, sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, making dolls and had a small ceramics business. She was an avid collector and loved the time she spent at Bad Medicine Lake. Most important to Jan was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Jan was a charter member of Valley Baptist Church in Valparaiso, IN, attended Chapel on the Hill Church in Detroit Lakes while summering at Veronen’s Resort, and had previously taught Sunday school at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee. While her children and grandchildren grew, Jan stayed very busy in their booster clubs, as well as attending their numerous activities.
