Trump is the P.T. Barnum of our lifetime
A sucker is born every time someone believes whatever the president says
During his Thanksgiving Day public address, a bratty President Donald Trump snapped at a reporter from behind the kiddie table in the White House.
“Don’t ever talk to the president like that,” Trump barked.
Once again since Election Day, our 74-year-old president acted like a petulant and sulking toddler who didn’t get his way in the playpen. I thoroughly enjoyed watching his little temper tantrum on an international stage. Social media blew up with jokes and memes mocking our crybaby-in-chief.
We should expect more hissy fits from Trump through Jan. 20, when he’ll be evicted from the people’s house by the electoral process. Until then, he will lash out at anyone who doesn’t agree with him or pledge allegiance to his swagger.
With immense power comes the spoils. Without this power comes a spoiled brat who will continue his wonderfully entertaining meltdown. Trump is a true lightweight and a two-time loser of the popular vote.
Our clownish president is the P.T. Barnum of our lifetime who will forever be recalled with a similar description: An American showman, politician and businessman remembered for promoting celebrated hoaxes and founding a nowdefunct circus. In our country, a sucker is born not every minute, but every time they believe whatever Trump says.
Here’s one of his latest lies for his bandwagon of duped believers. It arrived in my inbox through an email in our president’s name under the subject line, “Here’s the truth.” This was first tip that the
entire email was full of falsehoods. Trump and the truth go together like Jesus and lies.
A Trump minion wrote, “I’ve activated the Official Election Defense Fund and I need EVERY PATRIOT, including
YOU, to step up and make sure we have enough resources to PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF OUR ELECTION. Despite the Left’s attempts to undermine this Election, I will NEVER stop fighting for YOU.”
“We are accomplishing so much, which is even more reason to step up and DEFEND THE ELECTION! We cannot let the Democrats STEAL this Election from your all-time favorite President. They’ll DESTROY everything we’ve worked so hard for. I’m calling on YOU to FIGHT BACK, Friend.”
“We need to bolster our critical Election Defense Fund if we’re going to keep going. We can’t do this without you. Please contribute ANY AMOUNT IMMEDIATELY to the Official Election Defense Fund and you can increase your impact by 1000%.”
I’ve received dozens of these emails from Trump headquarter grifters, I mean staffers. I get downright giddy when I think of his supporters reading these emails and believing these lies word for word. I get even more entertained when I envision these saps instinctively pulling out their credit card or checkbook to make a donation to the “Official Election Defense Fund.” (It must be true if capital letters are used, right?)
It’s a brilliant scheme. Trump’s most loyal suckers, I mean supporters, deserve to sign up for these emails. If you’re one of them, I implore you to subscribe at newsletter@ conservativenews.com, to believe everything you read, and to make a donation of any amount. TODAY. RIGHT NOW. Go ahead, I’ll wait.
For the rest of us, if you visit the website’s fineprint section (there’s always fine print), you’ll see this disclaimer: “Contributions to TMAGAC made by an Individual/ Federal Multicandidate Political Committee will be allocated according to the following formula: 75% of each contribution first to Save America, up to $5,000/$5,000, then to DJTP’s Recount Account, up to a maximum of $2,800/$5,000.”
And, “25% of each contribution to the RNC’s Operating account, up to a maximum of $35,500/ $15,000. Any additional funds will go to the RNC for deposit in the RNC’s Legal Proceedings account or Headquarters account, up to a maximum of $213,000/ $90,000.”
Over the past two weeks, I’ve visited this website several times to reread this detailed “formula.” Most of the donations goes to the president’s newly established “Save America” PAC fund, which can be used for any political venture after he gets evicted.
P.T. Barnum would be so proud of this flim-flam scam in the name of nationalism. This con job isn’t about the sanctity of democracy. It’s about the consequences of demagoguery, defined as “a leader who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power.” Sound familiar?
“I am appalled at what Trump is doing and how dangerous it is for our country,” writes Dennis Norman, a reader from South Haven. “The failure of Washington, D.C., politicos to ignore this unraveling of democracy is not to be disregarded.”
Most Americans who feel this way are hiding in their political cellar until the Trump tornado blows past the White House on its way to a new media empire, I’m guessing. His ego won’t allow him to leave the national spotlight. His supporters won’t know what to do without his “leadership.” This entertaining circus will continue under the big tent of fanaticism through the clownish guise of patriotism.
There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the election. There is clear evidence of widespread fraud by a sitting president who doesn’t care about saving America, but only about saving himself after leaving office.
“Don’t ever talk to the president like that,” Trump barked.
Too late, Mr. President. America has spoken to you loud and clear.
The winter of your political life is fast approaching. Don’t be such a snowflake. Take it like a man, not a toddler. In the eyes of history, you’ll melt away soon enough into a legacy of mockery.
