Jackson, Malissa

-

Malissa Jackson was born on August 6, 1930 to the late Mary Kate and Jeff Morgan in Auburn, Alabama. She was the youngest of 5 siblings.

“Lissie,” as she was affectionately known, migrated from the south with her family and settled in Gary, Indiana where she attended Froebel High School. She, along with her family, united with Trinity M.B. church under the leadership of the late Rev. W.H. Thomas where she worshipped faithfully until her health began to decline. She met and married the love of her life, the late Willie Evans Jackson and to this union three children were born. The two were happily married for over 30 years, separated only by the transition of Willie Sr. in 1986.

Lissie proudly retired from St. Mary Medical Center after 20 faithful years of service. She was known for her cooking, her cleaning, and most of all, for her flowers. To say she had a green thumb is an understatement. Her beautiful yard was always the best on the block and her pride and joy!!!!

She peacefully went from labor to reward on December 20, 2020 surrounded by family and lots of love. She will be missed but our hearts will remain full with memories of her.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Willie M. Jackson jr.(Beverly) of Hobart, IN, Marlowe Jackson (Delores) of Gary, IN and Staci R. Bennett (Damen) of Crown Point, IN; 1 sister, Cornelia Parker of Patterson, CA; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great grand-dog and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 9am -11am at Trinity Baptist Church 1831 Virginia Street Gary, IN 46407. Due to COVID-19 Social Distancing Guidelines, Funeral Services will be private. www.smithbizzellwarnerfuneralhome.com
