Ray, Ora Lee

-

Ora Lee Ray, aka Lee, was born February 25, 1941 in Merigold, Mississippi, to Jenkins and Rosie McKnight. The Family later moved to Gary, Indiana, where she graduated for Gary Frobel High School in 1961, went on to earn a nursing degree and became a nurse. She also met and married her husband, the late William Ray. Ora retired for Methodist Hospital after 18 years of faithful service where she touched so many lives. She considered praying for all of her patients as part of their daily care. Ora loved the Lord and confessed a faith in Christ at an early age and served him until she was called home to be with her Heavenly Father. She was definitely a strong prayer warrior, on who you could call upon anytime - day or night. Ora was preceded in death by both her parents, sister Delores Jean Hayes and son Geoffrey Burr. She leaves to cherish her loving memories daughter Tracy (Saheed) Shittu, son William (Monica) Ray and son Joseph Irving; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother Jenkins Mcknight; sisters Rosie McKnight, Thelma Howell and Luvena (Ferry) Poole; aunt Delores Triplett, dear friend George Thompson and a host of relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 9am to 11am at Smith, Bizzell & Warner Funeral Home, 4209 Grant Street, Gary, Indiana 46408. Due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, Funeral Services will be private. www.smithbizzellwarnerfuneralhome.com Sign Guestbook at chicagotribune.com/obituaries
