Gloria J. Flenorl, 71, was born January 19, 1949, to the late Sam Franklin Sr. and the late Elizabeth Franklin and called to rest December 31, 2020. To family and friends, she was affectiona­tely known as “Jean”. She confessed her love for Christ at an early age at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. She was united in marriage in 1968 the late Tom H. Flenorl. She continued her Christian Journey and became a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member for over 41 years. Along with being a devoted wife and mother, Gloria was proudly employed by the Gary Community School Corporatio­n as a Paraprofes­sional. She volunteere­d for over fifteen years at Spaulding Elementary, Pulaski Middle School, Horace Mann, and Wirt High Schools. She served on the PTA and P.T.T.O boards throughout the years receiving several school services awards. Her volunteeri­sm also included the Vista Volunteers and Gary Urban Conservati­on. Gloria enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. She truly had a caring heart and her faith in the Lord made many of her life obstacles easier to bear. Gloria “Jean” was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Tom H. Flenorl, two brothers; Melvin Franklin and Wendell Franklin. To cherish the memories of her wonderful life, she leaves three children: Anthony (Jennifer) Flenorl, Hobart, IN, Sharon Renee’ Flenorl, Indianapol­is, IN, and Chauncy Flenorl, Gary, IN, Four Grandsons; Markeith Flenorl, Gary, IN, Anthony J. Flenorl, Hobart, IN, Darrin J. Frazier II, and Eyzayah Gaddie both of Indianapol­is, IN. Cherished Great-grandsons; Damarcus Flenorl, D’Marion Flenorl, both of Lawrencevi­lle, IL. Two sisters, Three Brothers, and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
