Hattie Walton was born in Sardis, Mississipp­i on September 25, 1954 and she returned home at midnight on Thursday October 14, 2021. Hattie was a member of Faith Temple of Christ under the Leadership of Pastor Dennis Walton where she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour. She was preceded in death by her parents Willlie B. and Lizzie Conner and her brother Willie Conner Jr, who had one child, Crystal M. Conner (children Ariel M. Calhoun and Anthony J. Crenshaw), and her sister Rosie Carprue who had two birthed children Elliot Carprue and Helen Carprue-Evans. Hattie has five

living siblings (and a host of nephews and nieces): Berniece Williams, James Conner, Anthony Conner, Emanuel Conner, and Elizabeth Conner-Coleman. Hattie attended West Side High School (Cougar) where she graduated in 1974. Also this is where she came to meet her husband Sterling E. Walton and

has been with him ever since. They together went on and created a family Ju’Wanda Walton-Kirk (eldest/only daughter/2 children Obie Hamilton V and JuKenda Kirk), (next to eldest/son) Sterling Walton III (wife Felisha Walton and 4 children Ashley, Sterling, Patrice and Sterling Walton), (youngest son) Otis Walton (wife Jameshea Walton/2 children Oriyah and Otis Walton Jr.). Hattie and Sterling Walton were together for over 47 years. Hattie and Sterling retired from their business Hattie’s Daycare & PreSchool where they were Loved and Respected by Most. They served their community of Gary, IN and surroundin­g areas for over 25 years providing child caring services. “Ms. Hattie” was a “Mother to Many” and as always, “Gone 2 Soon”.
