A 2-year-old child has been placed with Child Protective Services after a man and woman with whom the child was traveling were shot and killed in Hammond late Sunday.

Hammond Police responded around 11:40 p.m. Oct 17 to shots fired in the area of Hohman Avenue and Gostlin Street on the city’s north side, police spokesman Lt. Steve Kellogg said Monday. There, they spoke to a witness who told them that several unknown men started shooting at each other during an argument.

One of the men got into a Buick Rendezvous containing a woman and fled the area, while the three other men jumped into another car and left, Kellogg said.

While officers continued to gather information, they received a second call about a car that had crashed into a building at Gostlin Street and State Line Avenue where they found a Buick Rendezvous that had been struck several times with bullets and two badly wounded adults, Kellogg said.

The woman, Krystol McDonald-Jone, 30, from Chicago, was pronounced dead on the scene, while the man, Christienne Cloutier, 27, from Chicago was taken to the hospital, where he died shortly after, Kellogg said.

An approximately 2-year-old child was also in the vehicle and was taken by CPS, Kellogg said.

Detectives have no information on the suspects, Kellogg said, but Hammond Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a 2016 silver Dodge Charger stolen from Chicago that was used in the shooting, Kellogg said. The car has Illinois license plate number CZ53088, and if located, police are warning people to not approach the car because the occupants are considered

armed and dangerous, Kellogg said.

Anyone with information on the shootings or the car is asked to call Detective Sgt. Joe Munoz with information at 219-852-2995.

Sunday night’s shooting was the second double homicide the city has dealt with in 10 days. Two men — Diandre Easter, of Calumet City, Illinois; and Daniel Gomez, of East Chicago — were found shot to death in the 700 block of Locust Street Oct. 7. Hammond Police believe both double homicides are isolated incidents.
