Beckham joins Rams; Cowboys’ Gregory to IR

Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. agreed to a one-year deal with the Rams on Thursday.

The Browns released Beckham, 29, on Monday midway through his third season with the team. He cleared waivers Tuesday with no team willing to pick up the $7.25 million he was owed under his last contract, freeing the fivetime 1,000-yard wideout and three-time Pro Bowler to sign with any team.

▪ The Cowboys placed DE Randy Gregory on IR one day after he suffered a calf injury during practice. He will miss a minimum of three weeks.

College basketball:

F Cody Riley will miss No. 2 UCLA’s home game against No. 4 Villanova on Friday with sprained MCL in his left knee. He will be re-evaluated next week. Golf: Russell Henley, Talor Gooch and Marc Leishman each shot 5-under 65 to share the clubhouse lead at the Houston Open. Luke List was at 4 under through 15 holes when the first round was suspended due to darkness . ... Leona Maguire shot an opening-round 8-under 62 to take a two-shot lead over tdefending champ Sei Young Kim at the LPGA’s Pelican Women’s Championsh­ip in Belleair, Fla . ... Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk and Kirk Triplett each shot a first-round 6-under 65 to share a one-stroke lead at the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championsh­ip in Phoenix. Season points leader Bernhard Langer battled through a balky back for a 68.

NBA: Bulls C Nikola Vucevic tested positive for COVID-19 and entered the league’s protocol. The two-time All-Star will be sidelined for 10 days or until he has two negative tests in a 24-hour period. The Bulls reportedly are full-vaccinated. Vucevic guarded 76ers C Joel Embiid in successive games prior to Embiid testing positive last week. NHL: The Senators placed F Alex Formenton, G Matt Murray and D Nikita Zaitsev in the league’s protocol, brining their total to nine.
