Strange objects
“A Cabinet of Curious Characters” exhibit will take place Nov. 19-28 at Side Street Studio Arts in Elgin. The exhibit features over 30 artists taking vintage cabinet card photographs from late 1800s and incorporating them into their art. Hours are noon-6 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays, and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free. At 15 Ziegler Court.

Fall fun
Brookfield Zoo Fall Free Days are Nov. Nov. 25, and Dec. 6-7, 13-14, and 20-21. An ice rink will be open from noon to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 20-21, and from 3 to 9 p.m. Nov. 26-28 and Dec. 1-5, 8-12, 15-19, and 26-31. Cost is $7. Skate rentals are $5. Admission to the zoo is $24.95 for adults, $17.95 for children 3-11, and $19.95 for seniors 65 and over. Parking is $15, even on free admission days. Go to CZS.org.
