Moore, Frederick Lawrence ‘Fred’

Frederick Lawrence “Fred” Moore, born on October 28, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, to Frederick Von Moore and Helen Josephine Hiles Moore, passed away peacefully in Clermont, Florida on May 12, 2022. He was the oldest of four children. He was married for forty-five years to the love of his life, Josephine “Jodi” Taylor Moore. In addition to Fred becoming a “bonus dad” to Tracey, this union produced two more children, Dana and Jason. Fred was a graduate of Chicago Vocational School, Chicago, IL; attended Indiana University Northwest, Gary, Indiana, majoring in Criminal Justice; honorably discharged after three years from the United States Army; played semi-pro baseball after trying out for the Chicago White Sox; worked for Eastman Kodak, Chicago, IL; served for ten years as a State Trooper of the Indiana State Police (retired); was employed by the National Insurance Crime Bureau, specializi­ng in auto theft; was a Security Manager at Buffington Harbor, Majestic Star Casino; and was a Consultant to the Profession­al Protection Corporatio­n. In 2020, Fred and Jodi moved to sunny Central Florida and continued to love on each other and their family until the Lord took him home. He leaves to mourn his passing: wife, Josephine; daughters: Dana Moore and Tracey (Andrew) Powell of Orlando, FL; son: Jason Moore of Gary Indiana; sisters: Helen (Arthur) Denham and Cynthia (Robert-deceased) Jackson of Chicago, IL; brother: Harry Moore of Chicago, IL; and grandchild­ren: Godfrey Brown, Dominique Moore, Gabrielle Walters, Asa Powell, and Justice Powell; along with many sisters-in-law, brothers-inlaw, nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, 10am, at Love Feast Church of God in Christ, 2456 Chase Street, Gary, Indiana 46404.
