„■ Braves: Second baseman Ozzie Albies was put on the 10-day injured list by the Braves on Tuesday because of a broken right big toe. Albies was hit on his foot by a curveball from Astros rookie Spencer Arrighetti in the second inning of the Braves’ 6-1 win on Monday night. Albies remained in the game and went 1 for 3 with a walk. The Braves said Tuesday that X-rays revealed the fracture. A 27-year-old three-time All-Star, Albies is hitting .317 with two home runs and 14 RBIs. The Braves selected the contract of infielder David Fletcher from Triple-A Gwinnett. Luis Guillorme was in the lineup at second base and hitting eighth on Tuesday. „

■ Brewers: Outfielder Christian Yelich was placed on the 10-day IL with a lower back strain. The move is retroactiv­e to Saturday. The Brewers recalled utilityman Owen Miller from Triple-A Nashville to fill Yelich’s spot on the roster. Yelich hasn’t played since leaving in the second inning of an 11-1 road victory against the Orioles on Friday due to lower back discomfort. Yelich periodical­ly has dealt with back issues over the last few seasons. The 32-yearold former NL MVP was off to a blistering start before his injury. He’s batting .333 with a .422 on-base percentage, .744 slugging percentage, five HRs and 11 RBIs in 11 games. Miller, 27, batted .261 with a .303 on-base percentage, five HRs, 27 RBIs and 13 steals in 90 games for the Brewers last season while playing first base, second, third, left field and right field. He was hitting .353 with a .414 on-base percentage in 13 games with Nashville this season.

„ ■ Tigers, Rangers: Gio Urshela had an RBI single and Matt Vierling scored on a wild pitch in the eighth to put the Tigers ahead, and the Tigers’ pitchers continued their solid play to beat the visiting Rangers 4-2. Andrew Chafin worked 1 ⅓ hitless innings. Jason Foley retired pinch-hitter Adolis Garcia for his fifth save of the season. Casey Mize, making his first home start since 2022, went six innings, allowing two runs and five hits. Mize missed most of the 2022 season and all of the 2023 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery and a back operation. Jose Urena took the loss for the Rangers . ... Jack Leiter, the 23-year-old son of former major league pitcher Al Leiter, is to make his major league debut for the Rangers against the Tigers on Thursday. The Rangers said they intended to select the contract of Leiter from Triple-A Round Rock, where he’s 1-1 with a 3.73 ERA in two starts and one relief appearance this season. Taken second overall in the 2021 amateur draft from Vanderbilt, Leiter has pitched 14 ⅓ innings this season with 25 strikeouts and three walks. Al Leiter was a two-time All-Star and won 162 games over 19 seasons from 1987-2005.

„ ■ Dodgers: Carl Erskine, who pitched two no-hitters for the Brooklyn Dodgers and was a 20-game winner in 1953 when he struck out a then-record 14 in the World Series, died. He was 97. Among the last survivors from the celebrated Brooklyn teams of the 1950s, Erskine spent his entire career with the Dodgers. He helped them win five NL pennants. Erskine won Game 3 of the 1953 World Series against the Yankees. He appeared in five World Series, with the Dodgers finally beating the Yankees in 1955 for their only championsh­ip in Brooklyn.
