Girls basketball Wister gets third at ARS

Wister (6-9) won the third-place game of the Arkansas River Shootout in Webbers Falls on Saturday 57-35 against Oaks Mission.

Kinley Branscum scored eight of her 24 points in the fourth quarter. Mia McGowen had nine points while Caitlyn Horne had eight, Kinzie Duncan had seven and Jordan Makovy had six.

Wister lost its semifinal 45-43 to Webbers Falls on Friday.

After leading with six seconds left, Wister saw the game slip away as a Webbers Falls player made a falling shot. Branscum led Wister with 14 points while Makovy had 10, McGowen had nine and Horne had seven.

Spiro loses two at WECC

Spiro lost its last two games in the Warner Eagle Cherokee Classic.

On Friday, Spiro lost 66-32 to Morris in its semifinal.

Spiro stood within 1913 at the end of the first quarter before trailing 3319 at halftime and 48-29 through three quarters.

Brynleigh Graham led Spiro with nine points while Kambrie Rogers and Kaylee Martin both had eight and Madilyn Lovell had four.

In the third-place game on Saturday, Spiro lost 4333 to Eufaula.

Spiro trailed 12-5 at the end of the first quarter, 1910 at halftime and 30-15 through three quarters.

Rogers led Spiro with 11 points while Graham had eight, Lindsey Wortham had seven and Martin had five.

Panama wins one, LeFlore drops last

two in FSBC

Panama (7-4) won one of its last two games in the Farmers State Bank Classic in Quinton.

On Friday, Panama beat McCurtain 43-37 in the consolatio­n semifinals.

McCurtain led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter before Panama seized a 23-17 lead by halftime and led 35-28 through three quarters.

Sky Bluford led Panama with 13 points while Lexi Bell had 12, Koda Robbins had 10 and Karli Anderson had six.

Jerica Baker led McCurtain with 16 points.

Panama lost the consolatio­n final 65-30 on Saturday.

Panama trailed 20-5 at the end of the first quarter, 32-16 at halftime and 4925 through three quarters.

Bell had six points while Gunny Sons had five and Robbins had four.

LeFlore (8-4) lost its last two tourney games.

In LeFlore’s 53-33 semifinal loss to Red Oak on Friday, Piper Warren posted 14 points while River Cogburn had eight and Alyssa Waits had six.

On Saturday, LeFlore lost the third-place game 76-32 to Quinton.

LeFlore trailed 27-7 at the end of the first quarter, 36-13 at halftime and 5024 through three quarters.

Boys basketball Spiro wins one of last

Spiro lost its consolatio­n semifinal of the Warner Eagle Cherokee Classic on Friday 31-30 against Warenr.

Spiro led 9-6 at the end of the first quarter before entering halftime tied 13all and leading 27-20 at the end of the third quarter.

Brycen Graham led Spiro with nine points while Hunter Sparks and Bryson Spears each had six and Zander Riggs had five.

Spiro (4-8) beat Wilburton 44-27 in the seventhpla­ce game on Saturday.

The Bulldogs led 9-7 at the end of the first quarter, 19-10 at halftime and 2318 through three quarters before breaking out for a 21-point fourth quarter.

Graham led Spiro with 19 points while Riggs had 11, Gabe Perez had five and Spears had four.

No. 2 finish by Wister

Wister (11-4) took a runner-up finish at the Arkansas River Shootout in Webbers Falls.

The Wildcats beat Cave Springs 70-69 in overtime in the first round on Thursday, defeated Webbers Falls 41-21 in their semifinal on Friday and lost 50-37 to Battiest on Saturday.

Lions fall at Westville

Howe lost 59-48 at Westville on Friday despite a 23-point performanc­e by Jaxon Remy.

Howe trailed 17-8 at the end of the first quarter, 30-15 at halftime and 4330 through three quarters.

Remy scored 18 of his 23 points in the second half. Kobe Wooten added nine points while Brayden Dalton had six and Kobe Brown had five.

Eagles beat Panama for

third at FSBC

Red Oak beat Panama 31-27 in the Farmers State Bank Classic thirdplace game on Saturday in Quinton.

Panama led 9-6 at the end of the first quarter before the Eagles tied the Razorbacks 14-all by halftime. Red Oak led 2720 at the end of the third quarter.

Reese Allen led Red Oak with 14 points while Reed Kauk had eight and Trevor Lyons had four.

Gavin Gotes led Panama with eight points while Tyler Simkins had seven, Brendin Nixon had six and Brex Caldwell had four.

Panama lost 49-23 to Wright City in its semifinal on Friday.

Panama was within 15-7 at the end of the first quarter before falling behind 33-14 at halftime and 42-21 through three quarters.

Caldwell had nine points, and Gotes had four.

Denver Hamilton managed 13 points in Red Oak’s 62-39 semifinal loss to Buffalo Valley on Friday. Lyons had eight points while Allen had seven.

LeFlore lost 73-67 to Lakewood Christian in the FSBC consolatio­n semifinals on Friday.

Braden Pritchett led LeFlore with 20 points while Cameron Green had 16, Rabbit Holly and Rylan Luman each had eight and Taymon Vocque and Luke Herrell each had five.

McCurtain lost its consolatio­n semifinal 65-49 to Quinton on Friday. Zane Cooper had 19 points. Luke Sandlin had 16.
