The Kansas City Chiefs did it once again, getting their second Super Bowl victory in four years and enjoying their third trip in four years to the “big game.”

I liked the fact that the game was competitive and not a blowout as past Super Bowl games have been.

I know some people may wonder about the penalty on the Philadelphia Eagles in the last two minutes of the game that enabled the Chief to literally run the clock down to where they could win on a last-second field goal. Fox Sports National Football League Rules Analyst Mike Pereira seemed to be OK with the call made, and it did look like a slight tug of the Chiefs’ receiver’s uniform.

Now, real football is over until July and August when the NFL teams’ training camps begin and high school and college football will start having countdowns until season openers in late August and early September.

Yes, I realize there will be the XFL and USFL leagues starting sooner than that, but I just never have gotten my juices flowing for those league — nothing personal to you fans who do enjoy them.

The Poteau Daily News is working on its 2023 Welcome Guide, that will come out in March.

PDN Advertising Representative Michelle Wann is trying to get advertisements for it, and I’m working on the content.

Our deadline is Monday to advertise, so get with Michelle either by e-mail at (michellewann@poteaudailynews.com) or by telephone at (918) 721-4441.

There’s quite a buzz going around about the ToteA-Pokes being closed — the two in Poteau, the two in Heavener and the single ones in Hodgen, Howe, Panama, Pocola and McCurtain.

There was a Facebook post that said the closings have happened due to issues on employees not getting properly paid.

PDN will try to followup as best as its understaffed news department can do.
