Kinta sweeps district championsh­ips on home floor

Kinta’s basketball teams won their Class B district titles at home on Saturday. Kinta’s girls defeated Cameron 49-29 in the district final on Saturday. Kinta led 10-8 at the end of the first quarter. After being tied 21-all at halftime, Kinta advanced to a 40-26 lead by the end of the third quarter despite losing one of its players in the third quarter and having to play the rest of the game with only four on the court. Brayli Beason led Cameron with 11 points while Ashley Montgomery had seven, Addy Cornell had six and Mylie Ibison had five. Addie Carpenter led Kinta with 20 points while Dakota Montague had 15, Kodie Oldham had 11 and Addison Lynch had three. Kinta won its district opener 53-18 against Watts on Friday. Kinta led 11-9 at the end of the first quarter, 34-16 at halftime and 48-16 through three quarters. Montague led Kinta with 20 points, followed by Carpenter and Oldham with 13 each and Addison Stephens with six. Kinta’s boys beat Schulter 66-30 in Saturday’s final. The Eagles led 23-5 at the end of the first quarter, 45-15 at halftime and 58-23 through three quarters. Eriq Caraballo led Kinta with 13 points, followed by Jay Jefferson with 12, Ethan Franklin with 11, Trea Seabolt with 10, Colton Viloria with six, Dakota Hunnicutt with five, Terry Vealy with four, Dylan Belcher with three and Hunter Holden with two. Kinta won its district opener 55-17 against Cameron on Friday. Kinta led 10-6 after one quarter, 32-8 at halftime and 46-10 through three quarters. Seabolt and Franklin each had 11 for Kinta while For Cameron, Blythe Griffiths and Jaden Billingsle­y both had four points while Lucklan Reed, Dale Beshears and Jett Heathering­ton each had two and Taylen Darnell with one.
