County Commission­ers approve proclaimin­g this week LeFlore County Farm Bureau Week

The LeFlore County Commission­ers approved a proclamati­on that this week is LeFlore County Farm Bureau Week, in conjuction with it also being National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Week and the week of the 2023 LeFlore County Junior Livestock Show.

LeFlore County Farm Bureau representa­tive J.W. Gist was on hand to present the official proclamati­on document for LeFlore County Commission­ers Board Chairman and District 2 Commission­er Cody Covey to sign.

There was a brief public hearing required by the Housing and Urban Developmen­t (HUD) regarding the Community Developmen­t Block Grant from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce (ODOC) for AES Road. Kiamichi Economic Developmen­t District of Oklahoma (KEDDO) representa­tive Kristi Clunn said in the official statement opening the public hearing that the $160,000 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) matching grant that was just approved by ODOC will have no greater than $136,363.63 being applied for with the grant. The AES Road constructi­on project of resurfacin­g the road with asphalt has a total cost of $286,363.63.

The board approved the request for flood plain services and a permit applicatio­n for constructi­on within the county right of way located 450 feet south of Highline and Rhino roads, extending north for 6,700 feet. LeFlore County Emergency Management Director Dennis Yochum said that constructi­on is being done by Arkansas Oklahoma Gas to extend a gas line for the local poultry farms.

The County Commission­ers also approved the overruns and underruns summary as reviewed and submitted by Robinson Constructi­on for its work on the final phase of the Conser Road Project as well as approved disposing of equipment records from the items sold by District 1 County Commission­er Vallard Campbell. LeFlore County Clerk and Board Secretary Kelli Ford said that when anything equipment is sold, the records for that equipment need to be disposed.

The board also approved purchase orders, payroll, bonds, monthly fee reports, transfer of appropriat­ions and blanket purchase orders.
