-

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wrestler Izzak Olejnik was named the Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week for his performance in Las Vegas over the weekend, the conference announced today.

Olejnik went 6-0 at the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational en route to winning the 165-pound bracket. He was one of four Big 12 wrestlers to win at the event, including Iowa State’s Yonger Bastida, who was named Co-Wrestler of the Week alongside Olejnik.

The 165-pounder ran through the field, picking up a pair of falls and four wins over ranked opponents.

Olejnik pulled out a tight 6-4 decision over third-ranked Cameron Amine of Michigan in the semifinals, in which he got a clutch takedown with three seconds remaining on the clock to win the match.

He was clutch late once again versus seventh-ranked Julian Ramirez of Cornell in the finals, breaking a 1-1 tie in the third period with a takedown to ultimately win the title.

In addition to the first-place finish, Olejnik reached 100 career victories with his fall over Purdue’s Stoney Buell in the Round of 16.

Following his strong outing, Olejnik continued to rise up the polls on Tuesday, ranking as high as No. 2 in the country at 165 pounds according to Intermat.

Olejnik is the first Cowboy to win conference Wrestler of the Week since Carter Young and Luke Surber claimed the award in back-to-back weeks in January and February.

Olejnik and the Cowboys return to action this Friday, Dec. 8, against Lehigh at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Oklahoma State will then quickly turn around and head down to Norman on Sunday for the first Bedlam matchup of the season. Both duals are scheduled to air on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
